Students have began to dig into what 'coding' means. We started coding 'unplugged' using common commands that they will use when creating projects in Scratch. Students have also been learning about Ruby, from our read aloud book Hello Ruby, Adventures in Coding. Like all kids, Ruby loves to express herself with her imagination. Through her imagination, she leads students on adventures in problem solving and coding.
2nd grade students in room 214 have been researching animals in their class. Today they were given the task of researching online during their technology class, to find facts about their animal. It was their first time doing online research, and all were successful completing their research.
1st and 2nd graders are becoming more and more efficient at logging in to their chromebooks, emails and google classroom. Sometimes they still need a reminder about the difference between usernames and email addresses, and when to use each one.
Second graders were all successful in navigating to log in to their emails for the very first time! I had some great teacher's helpers, who were given the task of teaching other small groups of students how to navigate to google.cps.edu, locate their usernames and passwords on their login sheets, and successfully type in their info to log in. The teacher's assistants that took on the leadership roles, all were awarded tech genius for that day.
Second grade students have been busy learning their usernames and passwords to log into CPS computers and email, and joining their first Google Classroom in Technology.
