Year 3 students began gathering and cutting their materials. They soon realized that the cardboard we are using may not be durable enough for their designs. They had to go back and edit their plans.
Students are still in the planning stage of our design process. They have come up with some great designs and ideas so far!
Year 3 students have been researching the problem with claw arcade games (and why no one wins!). Students are now aware that claws in the arcade games are programmed to go only 1/4, 1/3, 1/2 strength, rather than full strength when closing it's clamps. Students have now begun the design process of finding a solution to "How do we build a non-motorized claw that opens and closes without the assistance of anyone touching the claw/gripper parts." Students will research, design, plan, and create, then test, improve, and test again their creations to see if it can: pick up a piece of paper, pick up a can of vegetables and pick up a magazine. |
